There is a big difference between learning how to use a technology and understanding when and why it’s worth using it.
That’s why we find the InnovaTech FP initiative particularly valuable—it connects vocational training students in Galicia with real-world challenges posed by companies. In this edition, the program has brought together 20 challenges proposed by companies from various sectors, bringing real-world needs into the classroom.
At HP SCDS, we participated with a proposal closely tied to the region: the development of a smart platform for the early detection of anomalies in the navigation of recreational boats, fishing vessels, and cruise ships along the Galician coast.
Last Friday, we attended the InnovaTechFP2026 awards ceremony, and we’d like to take this opportunity to once again congratulate CIFP A Carballeira-Marcos Valcárcel (Ourense), whose solution received the highest score in our category. We’re proud to say that all the students who took on our challenge tackled it with great creativity and talent 😊
Beyond the awards, the most valuable aspect is the experience: tackling a real-world problem, analyzing it, and deciding how to apply the knowledge gained to solve it. Because technology is not an end in itself, but a means to improve the way we work and understand the world.
Thank you to the Xunta de Galicia for promoting this type of initiative and to all the participants for their great work.
