The platform developed at the HP SCDS Technology Observatory “Diaberse: diabetes education in the metaverse” is beginning to be used by the Endocrinology and Nutrition Service at the León Hospital.
It is a pioneering application in the field of education for people with diabetes through an immersive virtual reality experience, with the aim of educating patients in the prevention and management of complications associated with diabetes, such as hypoglycemia, retinopathies and diabetic foot, among others.
The project has been developed during this academic course by John Steeven Cabanilla Alvarado, a computer engineering student at the University of Valladolid, with the mentoring of our colleague Luis Vidal de la Rosa, a software engineer at HP SCDS, and the scientific supervision of David Barajas, an endocrinologist at SACYL. The project has been awarded by the Castilian-Leonese Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition (SCLEDyN).
Congratulations on the excellent work!
