International Women’s Week: Give to Gain

This year at HP, we celebrated International Women’s Week with a simple yet powerful idea: when we give, everyone benefits.

At HP SCDS, we put the #GiveToGain message into practice by sharing five actions that help create more inclusive environments where everyone can thrive.

Five actions to foster inclusive environments

1️⃣ Give space to every voice

Actively listening, avoiding interruptions, and respecting speaking turns help improve conversations. In addition, inviting those who have not yet contributed brings in new perspectives.

2️⃣ Give knowledge

Offering technical guidance, a quick mentoring session, or reviewing a CV can support women’s growth in STEM careers. Moreover, outreach activities also play an important role.

For example, delivering talks in schools and diverse settings makes technology more accessible and helps reduce digital gaps.

3️⃣ Give visibility

Recognizing and highlighting colleagues’ work encourages growth and builds confidence. As a result, it helps create role models and strengthens team dynamics.

4️⃣ Give new perspectives to design

Our goal is to build technology for everyone. To achieve this, it is essential to include diverse viewpoints and work with varied teams.

In addition, testing solutions with different profiles and gathering feedback helps improve outcomes. It also allows teams to analyze each detail from multiple perspectives.

Design is an ongoing process. Therefore, it is important to review potential biases in data and adapt both products and communication to their audiences.

5️⃣ Give real opportunities

Progress starts with dedicating time—listening, supporting, and sharing knowledge. In this way, we create spaces where people can participate, experiment, and grow.

However, real change requires going further. It involves opening doors to new challenges, trusting leadership, and providing constructive feedback that supports professional development.

Equality does not happen by chance. Instead, it is built by everyone, through every opportunity we share.
